Hidden Gem – Killbear, Ontario

This week’s hidden gem was taken by Rick G. as part of our 2010 Share Your Ontario photo contest. Here’s how he described his “My Ontario” moment:

I went kayaking on a beautiful still morning & came across this vessel anchored in Kilcoursie Bay.

Kilcourise Bay is located in Killbear Provincial Park just west of Parry Sound, and is a water lover’s paradise with plenty of opportunities for swimming, sailing, fishing and boating.

If you love camping, Killbear is one of the many parks to explore in the Georgian Bay-Parry Sound area. The region is home to seven Provincial Parks (Grundy Lake, Sturgeon Bay, Massasauga, Killarney, Killbear, Oastler and Six Mile Lake) as well as a variety of privately-owned campgrounds and cottage resorts. It’s also the backbone of the Park-To-Park Trail, a 230-kilometre trail linking the districts of Parry Sound and Muskoka.

For more ideas for a getaway in this region visit Georgian Bay Country-Parry Sound on our website.
