Hidden Gem – Ancaster, Ontario

This week’s hidden gem was taken by Joe H. at the Ancaster Fair as part of our 2010 Share Your Ontario photo contest.

This year’s fair kicks off on September 22nd, 2011, and will feature the popular demolition derby, and the 2nd Annual “Got Talent” competition. The fair is presented by the Ancaster Agricultural Society, which has been around since 1850!

Ancaster is a picturesque and historic community located on the Niagara escarpment, within the greater area of the city of Hamilton, Ontario. Bounded by the picturesque southern shores of Lake Ontario and the lush trails of the Niagara Escarpment, Ancaster offers incredible access to conservation and recreation lands, a natural playground for cyclists, hikers, boaters and other outdoor adventurers. The town lies halfway between Toronto and Niagara Falls, making it an ideal destination.
