Hidden Gem – Sheppard’s Bush, Ontario

This hidden gem was taken by Gord C. at Sheppard’s Bush Conservation Area in Aurora, Ontario.

Tucked away just moments from Aurora’s downtown, Sheppard’s Bush Conservation Area is 26 hectares (65 acres) in size, and has over three kilometres of hiking trails and several historic buildings like our hidden gem, including a maple syrup evaporator hut.

You can also check out an important piece of Aurora history. Built in 1921, the Sheppard House was constructed in the architectural style of “arts and crafts”. Often you can get a peek inside at the annual Doors Open Aurora.

Make this a stop on a fall ramble through York Region. Sheppard’s Bush Conservation Area is part of a larger network of public lands and recreation trails along the East Holland River. From here you can go as far as Holland Landing on the Nokiidaa Trail or from Palgrave to Rice Lake on the Oak Ridges Trail.
