Happy Long Weekend Ontario! Looking for a last-minute family day plan? Here’s some great ways to celebrate the Family Day 2012.

Cambridge Butterfly  Conservatory, Cambridge
Check out the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory’s “Come & Hug A Bug” at the Insect Petting Zoo. An assortment (6 – 8 different species) to touch and hold including some exotic insects such as the Madagascar hissing cockroach & Walking Sticks, giant African land snails and much more.

McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kleinburg

What nicer way to celebrate Family Day than by celebrating those who live close to you? McMichael presents Kleinburg-based folk artist Mary Scattergood.  Take a family tour or join a workshop at 11:30, 1:00 or 2:30.  Sunday – concert Beatriz Boizan  and on Monday Jim Dalling’s theatrical performance Loki’s Big Dream a magical tale inspired by a young boy’s relationship with his beloved grandpa.

Celebrate family day weekend by visiting some the Zoo’s featured families such as the Western lowland gorillas, orangutans, Komodo dragons and green tree pythons to name a few. Plus check out the brand new baby polar bear cub!There’s no better way to spend quality time with the family than a visit to the Zoo.

Ice Fishing, Locations Across Ontario

If you or someone you know would like to try fishing in Ontario waters for the first time circle the weekend of Feb 18 – 20 on you calendar.  Canadian residents can enjoy the fun of fishing in Ontario without a licence during the annual Ontario Family Fishing Weekend.  All other regulations, fees and limits will apply.  Check out the full list of locations here.

Celebrate Family Day at the village with FREE activities for 3 days.  Free flying birds of prey shows  Horse & Carriage Rides, Face painting and more.  Sunday Fireworks at 8pm over Mill Pond.
