With sunshine and warm temperatures just around the corner you might have a beach getaway on your mind! With Great Lakes come great beaches, making summer in Ontario the ultimate swimming season. It’s the perfect time to explore a new swimming hole or return to your favourite beach. We asked you where the best beaches in Ontario are, and here’s what you told us:

Sandbanks Provincial Park – Lake Ontario, Ontario

A favourite for good reason! Giant dunes and golden beaches form one of the largest baymouth sandbars in the world. Sandbanks is the perfect place to soak up some sun, then cool off with a refreshing dip in Lake Ontario.

Sauble Beach – Lake Huron, Ontario

Where can you find miles of beautiful, clean beach? Sauble Beach, on the shores of Lake Huron is a vacationers’ paradise. The beach side town is charming too, relatively untouched for the past 50 years.

Old Woman Bay – Lake Superior, Ontario

Found on the rugged Lake Superior Coastline, Old Woman Bay in one of Ontario’s best kept secrets. As Adam L. told us it’s a “A sparkling and picturesque gem hidden along the panoramic vistas of Northern Ontario’s Hwy. 17”

Bonnechere Provincial Park – Ontario

The sandy shores in Bonnechere are perfect for sandcastles! There is a rich tradition of community on this beach – according to archaeological evidence, visitors have been landing on the beach at Bonnechere for thousands of years.

Port Stanley – Lake Erie, Ontario

The soft sands of Lake Eerie won many of you over. As Brenda G. told us “I was married on the shores of Lake Erie and spent many high school days on those shores!” Sean D. recommended Port Stanley as his pick for best beach.

Looking  for a beach perfect for little ones? Located on Lake Superior, the shallow waters and fine sand beach make Katherine Cove area especially appealing to childern and families.

None can be compared to the most magical place in Ontario Bruce Peninsula provincial park, the Indian Cove beach and Grotto.
