I haven’t been on a snowmobile in years, but it was definitely on my list of things to do this winter. The problem was that I don’t own a snowmobile and I didn’t know how I was going to make it happen. Then I found something that would solve that problem! I saw a link online for Yamaha Snowmobiling Adventures at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville. This is a program designed for someone just like me … someone who doesn’t have a snowmobile or the proper gear to ride one.
It’s an adventure where they provide the snowmobile, helmet, pants, jacket, gloves and even warm boots – Everything to make you look like a pro!
After getting suited up they put you through a course to see how you can handle the sled and how comfortable you are before getting out on the trails. In the afternoon that I did this adventure, I was joined by a couple of people who had also never been on a snowmobile before. We were all given the thumbs up to continue onto the trails. In Muskoka alone, there is over 2,000 km of networked trails and Deerhurst Resort is located right on one of these, so that’s where we started out.
It was such a great day! We rode through the trails and took in the amazing scenery. The best part is, the handle bars on the sleds have warmers, so your hands never got cold. We eventually made it to the top of the hill and took in the view of the resort.
This is an experience that I wasn’t aware of and I’m happy that it’s offered for people who want to try snowmobiling for the first time. Now I’m hooked! They even offer mini sled rides for younger children ages 6 – 9, or you can bring your own sled and join in the adventure.

This is definitely on my bucket list. I come from a warm climate – we don’t have snow 🙁 But I have been to Toronto & Halifax.
