A special place exists North of Toronto, along Georgian Bay, where the sweet summer harvest can be enjoyed year-round: The Apple Pie Trail. Don’t be deceived by its name though, as this trail is more than just apple pie, including cooking classes, wineries, museums and so much more! This delicious adventure gives apple lovers the opportunity to taste the best the area has to offer all while lending it’s picturesque landscapes as you hike, cycle, paddle, walk or drive around the Blue Mountains, Collingwood and Meaford.
Introducing apple trees to the Canadian soil, early European settlers spawned what would eventually become the backbone of the local Blue Mountain economy, as apple production truly is at the core of the area’s tourism. As the surrounding mountains confine warm air off the lake, a warm micro-climate is created that is ideally suited in the production of apple growing. The tasty fruit has become a way of life for many local businesses, and as frequent visitors to the area we thought it best to try them out ourselves!
