Give the Gift of Ontario with a Resorts of Ontario Getaway

This holiday season we’ve got lots of ways to give that special someone the gift of Ontario, from a quick road trip or weekend getaway that will create memories that will last long after the snow has melted. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend away, or a getaway for the whole family here’s two Resorts of Ontario properties that make it easy to give the gift of time together.

Tucked away on the south shore of Lake Simcoe, The Briars is the perfect place for a romantic getaway after a busy holiday season.

Wander the Grounds

The Briars has been in the same family since the 1880s, and the historic buildings and grounds have been beautifully preserved. Lake Simcoe is just steps away, and Muskoka chairs and outdoor fire pits make for a pleasant way to enjoy the outdoors. For a new perspective, head upstairs to the viewing tower and admire 360 degree views of the resort and lake.

Discover the Peacock House

You might notice a curious octagon shaped building when you arrive at the Briars. Take a closer look, because this building is a historic gem. It is Ontario’s only example of an octagonal-shaped peacock house and was actually used to house peacocks in the late 1800s. Want more Briars history? There’s much more to explore inside the house, including historic tours of the resort, sometimes including a peek at the secrets inside the history room. Plus, during the holidays the resort is decked out with stockings and Christmas trees throughout.
