City Escape – Four ways to spend a day in Toronto’s Distillery District

Tucked away in downtown Toronto is the Distillery District, a collection of Victorian Industrial buildings transformed into a dining, shopping and sightseeing hot spot. Here’s four musts for your visit.

Photo-op Favourites

Part of the charm of the Distillery District is the abundance of picture perfect red brick buildings, art installations and heritage pieces. Don’t miss the “Lock in Your Love” installation, Gooderham & Worts Sign, red historic truck and much more that you’ll discover around every corner. Bring along your camera and spend some time photographing these landmarks.

Book some patio time

Summer means patio time, and the Distillery District has no shortage of beautifully designed patios to choose from. Enjoy a craft beer on the Mill Street Brew Pub’s patio, or sit down to a dinner on the Pure Spirits Courtyard Patio.  Check out more patios here.

 Retail therapy

If you want to find a one-of-a-kind souvenir, or even indulge in some wardrobe updates, the Distillery has you covered. Distill Gallery features exclusively Canadian designs (we happen to love the Ontario themed pillows!).  Mint Boutique & Blossom Lounge have amazing fashion finds. Finish off your shopping trip with a visit to Heel Boy to take in their fantastic shoe selection.

Delicious dining

With so many delicious restaurants all within short walking distance of one another, your biggest challenge in the Distillery will be choosing just one place to eat. Our suggestion: don’t choose! Enjoy a sampling of food at several different restaurants. Start with a taste of Parisian cuisine at Cluny Bistro, get your caffeine fix at Balzacs, then treat yourself to some sweet treats at Soma. Still hungry? Check out more dining options here.
