There’s no better time to celebrate an Ontario staple – delicious maple syrup! Small towns and villages across Ontario host annual Maple Syrup Festivals and are the perfect way to celebrate Spring. We asked you to share your favourite places to find maple syrup, and here’s what you told us:
St. Joseph‘s Island – Algoma, Ontario

Fanshawe Sugar Shack – London, Ontario

The maple syrup season starts early in St. Jacobs. As Tina says, “We went on a sleigh ride in St. Jacobs on family day and their trees were already tapped and sap coming down the tubes. Kids thought it was cool and so did I!”

Love the sounds of the log pancake house!

I would recommend Wheelers Maple Products; pancake house and sugar camp. They are one of the largest producers of maple syrup in Ontario and offer a wide variety of activities for the whole family. They have a beautiful log pancake house made from reclaimed cedar logs where they serve pancakes made from scratch and home made maple sausages. They also offer a maple heritage museum. which showcases the world’s most extensive collection of maple artefacts, a old style operational blacksmith shop, and a chainsaw and logging display which includes over 400 antique chainsaws on display. On site is one of three Parks Canada plaques recognizing Maple Products as a Culturally Significant Heritage Event in Canada. (the other two are in Quebec). They also offer a small barnyard with some farm animals, a kids play area and a zip line. There are trails throughout their 730 acre property for cross country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter, hiking, mountain biking and guided nature walks in the summer and horse drawn wagon/ sleigh rides during syrup season. They are open to the public every day of the year except Christmas, and are located at 1001 Highland Line, in Lanark County.
Camp Can-Aqua on Beaver Lake, next to Paudash Lake near Cardiff, Ontario makes wonderful maple syrup in three levels of delicious-ness: light, medium and dark. It can be purchased at the Cardiff General Store.
